Desmond Abberline is a photographer for a magazine and is sent to a said-to-be haunted forest in southern Sweden for an article about haunted and supernatural places.

Well there they accidentally photograph a rather strange creature. This photograph seems to set a series of unfortunate event in motion for Desmond and his colleague.

Being chased by a rather ruthless agent of the Illuminati, Desmond loses the photo.

A counter agent of the Templar Order comes in contact with Desmond and recruits him to the Order after noticing a particular quality in him.

After a year of training Desmond is sent on his first assignment; to investigate the disappearance of an entire archeological team on an island in Scandinavia, guided by his trusted archivist and techgenius Emmerich.

Still on the run from the ruthless illuminati hitman, he meets Laura and Erik who are on the run from a group of fanatic cult members from the Esoteric Order of Njord.
