720p -> 1366x768?

Jag har länge funderat över detta. Hur kommer det sig att t.ex HD-ready TV's är 1366x768 pixlar, snarare än att följa 720p och vara 1280x720 pixlar (dvs. ingen uppskalning behöver ske på 720p-material)?

 

Full HD är ju 1920x1080, och visar 1080p-material i samma storlek utan att behöva skala om. Det är inte så att jag klagar på att få några pixlar extra, jag undrar bara hur det kommer sig att man valt att peta in -fler- pixlar, istället för att göra det lika stort som det material som sänds ut? Är det en teknisk grej?

WHY does 1366 x 768 exist?

This has to do with a 1 megapixel processing boundary of easily available chipsets for VRAM ( video memory ) and video processing display drivers. Its a standard memory size of importance to chip makers. Makes for cost productive configurations where the Input / Output systems are built off of already available OEM devices, so basically the Manufacturer is more in the business of flatpanel Glass making and bezel/speaker situations on a large display.
